Working with the biggest and best, as well as by himself, it’s all about the music with C.A.B.L.E., get ready for the Soundsystem EP. The title cut is a hard, intense ride, building up slowly as the producer makes sure he gets everything he wants into the mix. The beat regulates itself, and when the drop comes, you’ll be all over this one. Slamming percussion and just the merest hint of bass is next, as DJs and ravers will be keen to see where this one is going.
Deep into the jungle is the answer, with resounding bass establishing itself, and switched up time sequences throwing you off. But what could be a missed opportunity in other hands, is a perfect party stormer for C.A.B.L.E.
The other tracks on the release are the Maztek and DJ Chap, Andrezz and L-Side remixes of C.A.B.L.E.’s Individual. The former represents everything which Maztek does so so well – booming, heavyweight bass and the right balance between the original and the remix. You’ll snap your neck to the beat and skank your body as the tune goes right through you – this one is massive. Taking the past to the future, as Maztek remixes Individual.
The latter takes a different path. A freer, more liquid opening allows the trademark bassline to come in in a new way, removing itself before striking at the opportune moment. The drums work in perfect synchronicity, and the whole picture is one of precision and contrast.
