2016 has already been a huge year for Deuce & Charger. The London-based trio released a massive summer single in ‘Who Can You Trust?’ (“a summer smasher” – DJ Mag; “fresh to death” – Magnetic Mag) and appeared on two of the year’s biggest drum and bass compilations: Viper’s ‘Summer Slammers’ and Liquicity’s ‘Alchemy 2’. Now they round off 2016 with a brand new double-A-side single ‘A Leap Of Faith’ / ‘The Spirit Guide’, released on In Charge Recordings on 11 November.
‘A Leap Of Faith’ reveals an introspective and emotionally direct side to Deuce & Charger. Vintage Moog synths and broken half-time drums give way to Becky’s captivating, vulnerable vocal before switching up for a soulful, uplifting drop.
‘The Spirit Guide’ leads us back to the clubs with a haunting John Carpenter Halloweenesque piano intro surrendering to a bludgeoning, chopped-up synth and vocal drop. Channelling a between-worlds atmosphere, the track pits 80s horror movie soundtrack sounds and Becky’s ghostly vocals against speaker-shredding bass.

The single package is enhanced by a remix of ‘A Leap Of Faith’ from Spective (Soul Deep), one of the best new producers in drum and bass. Spective highlights the raw emotion of the vocal with beautifully sparse production and atmospheric touches.
Deuce & Charger are making a rapid rise through the ranks of drum and bass with support from tastemaker blogs, channels and radio stations including all of us at Drum & Bass HQ, Bassrush, Skank & Bass, Magnetic Magazine,, Less Than 3, The Noise Engine and Bassport FM. They have been playlisted on 1Xtra, played on Radio 1 and Kiss Fresh, featured in Mixmag and DJ Mag, and remixed by Dossa & Locuzzed (Viper Recordings),
Kronology (Technique Recordings) and Chords (RAM Records).
