J SWIF – Drum & Bass HQ

Hailing from South London, J Swif began as an MC in 1994 at the age of 15 hosting DJ Dreamchild’s Happy hardcore Sunday show on London’s Hart Fm 90.4 which was J swifrun by DJ Mad Ash who later went on to found Face FM and  pioneering Internet radio InterFace.

At the time J Swif also regularly performed on the Junior Buzz  Drum and Bass show on Hart Fm with MC Wicked and MC Kie as well as many venues around London such as the Chunnel Club, the gardening club and GC2.

J Swif later went on to become a resident at Paul Ibiza’s Jungle Splash with Junior Buzz , DJ Runtingz and MC Junior Dangerous, 5ive-0.

J Swif, Highly Blessed Drum & Bass MCMc convention which was also promoted by Paul Ibiza in conjunction with MC Shabba D also booked J Swif as resident at the Stratford Rex event.

J swif recorded Drum and Bass tracks for the highly blessed record label although no tracks were officially released into the mainstream.

J Swif also worked on an early Dubstep project, the EP “We do this all the time” with German producer Don Goliath on the tracks “Wasteman” and “Too many men”

In 2008 J swif and long time Drum and Bass Mc partner Mc Fever independently released the album entitled “The Pound and Dollar Issue”   featuring drum and bass, grime, house and hip hop tracks by producers Dubalty, P Snipes and Macky Gee.

The album was recorded by legendary Jungle and hardcore producer, Bizzy B in B Productions studio, Leytonstone, East London. The Album featured a remix of the track “Bad news” which featured Lady Mc and A-Kat

Drum and Bass HQ

J Swif  is the founder of Drum and Bass HQ , an online magazine dedicated to Drum and Bass Culture which features a Podcast interviews with people that influence Drum and Bass around the world. Drum and bass HQ also has a Youtube channel as well as its own branded clothing line.


J currently holds down a regular show on PyroRadio on the 1st Monday of each month 1900-0700 GMT and regularly has special guest features, mixes and interviews.


J Swif performed on numerous fm and internet Drum and Bass radios stations, most notably the world-renowned Drum and Bass station Kool fm also known as Kool London. His main Dj on Kool fm was Dj MaAftershock Krujor. and J Swif regularly performed back to back with Mc Fever, K-Eye and Blacka.

Before Kool FM whilst on London’s Ruud Awakening radio station, J Swif and a group of DJ’s and MC’s  formed the Aftershock Kru after Mc Ishu referred to the group as the “Aftershock Crew” whilst they were drinking shots of Red Aftershock in the studio.



J Swif was one of the first MC’s to secure a regular show on pioneering internet radio station InterFACE in 1997. His regular Saturday night show with DJ Junior Buzz also featured MC and Vocalist Brinley Jardine also known as MC O.D who J Swif describes as “one of the most talented MC’s to ever to touch a microphone”

J Swif was a resident MC, DJ and Studio Manager on internet radio station UK Rumble. While there, J Swif with team members Junior Buzz, Alex Briley and Dj Gumbo held club nights in Camden club WKD.

J Swif also performed on Flex FM, Abyss FM, Hyper Fm, Cyndicut FM, Planet DnB and Drum and Bass Worldwide
